It’s late September in London and again the design season is in a full swing. From 100% Design, London Design Fair to British Art Fair, Frieze and The Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair, the exhibition halls are jam-packed with a world of exciting objects.
The Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair in Battersea Park draws those at the very top in their field, from exhibitors to experts from across the world, as far away as America and Australia. Thousands of buyers visit each year, looking to purchase unique one-off pieces.
From Scandinavian mid-century glassware to Rococo Revival mirrors, from classic antiques, collectors’ items, art and accessories to the 20th century Italian and French furniture, lighting, quirky statement pieces as well as garden decorations. Everything you ever wanted is under one roof.
This year we saw antiques dating from the 17th century to 1914 abound. Art Deco, post-war and later 20th century design made up around one quarter of objects and furniture for sale. Unlike other more traditional antiques fairs, the dealers design their stands as room-sets so visitors can imagine how items might fit in their own homes.
