Description
The legend of the crying man comes from the island of Java. He is a man so disappointed with the choices of the humanity that he chooses a life of meditation. A humble and reserved man, his sacrifice is his offering. Such figures are said to be auspicious, by touching them you can hand over your sorrows to the ‘weeping Buddha’ and are also known as the humble or sleeping Buddha.
Each carved from a single piece of wood and beautifully restored, the statues were made in Asia in the early part of 20th century. There is a crack on one sculpture consistent with age.
