    Description

Desmond Broe (1921–1968) was a notable Irish sculptor from a prominent Dublin family. He took over the sculptural business Leo Broe and Sons – which was well-known for creating religious, ecclesiastical, and historical sculptures – from his father, Leo Broe.

Desmond specialised in bronze and stone monuments, including works for the Athlone Brigade IRA Memorial (circa 1953) and  projects that commemorated Ireland’s struggle for independence. He created the famous Pearse Memorial Plaque at P.H. Pearse stone mason store in Dublin City Centre.
