Description
Beautifully decorated with REYNOLD’S ANGELS in the clouds, the set was made by William Comyns & Sons in London in 1900 and 1901. English sterling silver hinged trinket, vanity or jewellery box and round hand mirror made by William Comyns of London in 1900 as well as cut glass powder jar made in 1901.
The set bears the English lion passant for sterling silver purity, the leopard’s head crowned for London, the date letter a for 1900 and b for 1901 and the maker’s mark W.C for William Comyns.
Many collectable items from the late Victorian and Edwardian periods are associated with the dressing-table. Glass jars, often highly decorative, were produced at this time for face powders, with silver mounts decorated in Art Nouveau styles. Matching sets of accessories and hand mirrors were designed with silver, electroplate or enamelled backs in contemporary motifs.
This piece is in great overall condition. The designs are slightly worn in some spots consistent with age and use. We also added Ralph Lauren cut glass ornate perfume bottle to complete the look!
